“This morning I had a day off from babysitting, so I packed as much in as possible - starting with a doctor’s appointment I’ve been putting off for far too long. Here I was waiting for him to come in, apparently with fuzz in my hair. Moments before this the nurse did a blood pressure test and I swore my arm was about to burst.”
“Another tedious chore that might not interest you but genuinely took me SO LONG today: painstakingly transferring every plug-in license I own from my ancient, always overheating laptop to my brand new one. In order to get started on music, I had to get every last bit of that done. While I did it, I ate a lunch that looked kind of gross but tasted delicious (not pictured).”
“To the untrained eye, this is a bad photograph. But to the more keen viewer… it’s actually an action shot I managed to snap while briskly passing by a vigilant goose mother. Mother Goose!!! I always walk around this lake right before the sun sets - a few weeks ago, it was baby goose season, but now they’re all kind of gray and teenager-y. Ugly cute. Listened to the new episode of Las Culturistas with John Waters (!!) while I walked. Laughed out loud a lot.”
“On the way back, I was stuck in a ton of traffic (hence this pic of my arm with my lamp + watch lookin’ real cute). I spent the car ride listening to a playlist of songs I’ve been adding to for production inspiration as I plot my next project. Speaking of arms, I’ve been unable to stop listening to the song “Arm’s Length” by Sam Fender. It’s addicting. I like singing along in his accent.”
“Tried to write a chorus to this song I’ve been stuck on! Made some progress, sort of. But getting every idea out, even if none of them feel very good in the moment, tends to help future me eventually come up with the perfect melody/lyric/etc. Even if I’m not as productive as I hope to be, sitting and playing calms me down more than anything else. Especially when it’s in my little piano corner, surrounded by my favorite candle warmer and the Ella Jane swirly straw my dad ordered from a Facebook ad one time.”
“Nearly bed time for good ol’ Ella, but… just spent a while recording vocals for a demo I’m working on at the moment!!!! I fall in and out of love with production - sometimes the learning curve feels a bit too frustrating and I get overwhelmed, but tonight I’m feeling very inspired. I’m excited about this song ;)”
“When I got home, I FINALLY put my comforter cover back on after washing it 3 days ago.
Every month, I avoid this chore like the plague. You might be wondering why I think this is necessary information to share, but it honestly took me SO long to wrangle that thang on that it feels like a significant part of my day.”
