BELFAST PUNKS PROBLEM PATTERNS SHRED SEXISM WITH NEW SINGLE

Belfast feminist queerpunk quartet PROBLEM PATTERNS return with Classic Rock Has Become My Prison, via Alcopop! Records. The track is the latest from their upcoming EP Boring Songs For Boring People, set for release 12 September on screen-printed vinyl with accompanying office-themed merch.

A chugging parody-turned-rant, the new single follows lead track I’m Fine and I’m Doing Great, which recently enjoyed a four-week run on the BBC Radio 6 Music C List. Recorded, mixed and mastered by Niall Doran at Start Together Studios, it arrives with a Beverley Boal-directed video featuring the band’s tongue-in-cheek alter egos: Beverley Flippin’ Boal, MegaBeth, Hard Rock Alanah and Ciara King Cobra.

Inspired by a neighbour’s loud garage rock marathons, the song weaves in 25 sexist or swaggering lyric references from classic rock history. “Musically, we went full cock-rock—ripping solos, chugging riffs, and drum fills—before unleashing our patented PP anger. This is Problem Patterns at our cock-rockiest.”
