BRAIN LEAK CLOSE A DEFINING CHAPTER WITH ‘SAVE ME’
Brain Leak return with Save Me, a defiant statement that closes the band’s debut Put Back Together EP. The Manchester nu-riot-grrrl project, centred on the raw introspections of songwriter Tara-Gabriella Engelhardt, delivers a track that transforms desperation into resolve. Written during a turbulent period of early sobriety, the EP captures what Engelhardt calls “completely dismantling, but also the first time I learned how to rebuild myself with intention.”
The group brings together a fierce lineup of UK alternative talent — Giulia Bonometti (Working Men’s Club), Jess Branney (Peaness), Sidonie Hand-Halford (Orielles) and Ellie-Rose Elliot (Blanketman). Save Me marks the culmination of a journey sparked by February’s breakout debut single Trying.
True to its title, Put Back Together was crafted through a deliberately fragmented process, with each track shaped in a different studio by a different producer. “It’s a Frankenstein production in the best way. I wanted to explore my sound, see how other people work, and figure out what I want for the next body of work.”
The result is a compelling study in breaking and rebuilding — a collection that moves from vulnerability into explosive, atmospheric territory, asserting both the band’s arrival and Engelhardt’s determination to survive on her own terms.
