DEADBEAT GIRL UNVEILS NEW EP ‘SELF DESTRUCTOR’

Deadbeat Girl (they/them) returns with Self Destructor, a six-track EP that pairs indie edges with confessional songwriting, featuring four previously unreleased songs.

Led by Val Olson, the project leans into reflective lyricism, sleek melodies and fuzzed-out guitars as they dissect cycles of self-destruction. The sophomore EP sees Val delve into themes of love, identity, gender and emotional turmoil with renewed clarity.

“This EP is for yearners, for the insecure, and for anyone fighting battles in their head. I’ve learned so much about myself through writing it — including accepting the uglier parts of who I am.”

Since debuting in 2022, Deadbeat Girl has steadily broadened their sound, resisting genre boundaries to shape a distinct take on alternative music. Their influences span 90s and early-2000s heavyweights — Nirvana, Death Cab for Cutie, The Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Pearl Jam — through to contemporary voices like Day Wave and Girl In Red.
