CLARA MANN ANNOUNCES EXTENDED EDITION OF ‘RIFT’ WITH NEW COVERS

Singer-songwriter Clara Mann will release Rift (Extended Edition) on October 22 via state51, following her acclaimed debut earlier this year. The expanded version, available digitally and on limited vinyl pre-order, features two French-language reworkings and two new covers.

To mark the announcement, Mann has shared a double A-side single: “500 Miles,” a reimagining of the traditional ballad inspired by Hedy West’s version, and “My Life,” a cover of Iris DeMent’s song. Both tracks feature fiddler Owen Spafford.

Reflecting on recording “500 Miles,” Mann said she found rare joy in its performance: “When I first played this folk tune through with my friend Owen, we did, in fact, have fun.”

On “My Life,” she recalled hearing the song with her mother as a child: “It feels like it sits between me and my ma’s chapters in life… She could sing it, and so can I, and we both understand it from different angles.”
