MARTA SHARES NEW SINGLE ‘OUT THE WAY’ FEATURING TRICKY
Polish vocalist Marta Złakowska has released Out The Way, a haunting new track featuring longtime collaborator Tricky. The single marks the first taste of her upcoming debut album, with further details expected soon.
Marta is best known for her ethereal presence on Tricky’s Fall to Pieces, which earned her critical acclaim. She also featured on Tricky’s Maxinquaye Reincarnated EP and the final album by dub legend Lee “Scratch” Perry, King Perry.
Raised in the Polish riverside town of Płock, Złakowska trained in classical and jazz vocals while absorbing an eclectic mix of soul, R&B, techno, and metal. “I was all over the place,” she says.
Her journey with Tricky began in 2017 when, while working at a bar in Krakow, she got a surprise call inviting her to a soundcheck. She learned the lyrics to When We Die in a taxi ride and performed that same night. “At first, Tricky didn’t say anything. Then he asked, ‘Do you have a passport?’” She didn’t. “He told his tour manager, ‘She needs one by January. We’re going on tour.’ I’ve been with him ever since.”
