MERPIRE SHARES INTOXICATING NEW SINGLE ‘LEAVING WITH YOU’
Naarm/Melbourne artist Merpire (Rhiannon Atkinson-Howatt) returns today with Leaving With You, an alluring blend of indie-alt textures and chromatic dark pop. It’s the third in a trilogy of singles exploring the “desire for desire,” this time diving into the electric, restless thrill of yearning for a crush.
Bursting with jumpy, ever-climbing emotion, Leaving With You captures the breathless uncertainty of a shared spark. “It’s about that moment when you’re not sure if your crush feels the same. You want to leave the party, but then they arrive, and suddenly you could stay all night.”
The track follows dreamy predecessors Bigger and Premonition, all leading to Merpire’s upcoming sophomore album Milk Pool, out 4th July. The record promises a moody, fluid exploration of love, transformation, and uncertainty, with off-kilter rhythms, evocative guitars and brooding synths.
A soundtrack for romantics and daydreamers alike, Milk Pool reflects what Merpire calls “the murky fluidity of the action [she] took to create it.”
