PAIGE KENNEDY SHARES NEW SINGLE ‘MEDICAL EMERGENCY’
London-based artist and producer Paige Kennedy (they/them) has announced their new EP Style Over Substance, out February 6th, and shared the first single, ‘Medical Emergency’, complete with a characteristically offbeat video. The release will be followed by a headline tour throughout February.
Leaning into their signature quirk-pop sound, Kennedy transforms personal chaos into catchy catharsis. “‘Medical Emergency’ was born after a life-altering breakup left me in A&E with actual heart problems. My coping mechanism has always been leaning into fantasy and comedy during dark times. The character in the song thinks all the nurses fancy them—it’s ridiculous, delusional, and fun.”
Citing Tupac, The Cardigans, and PJ Harvey as inspirations, Kennedy describes the track as “grungy with silly sound design,” mirroring its tongue-in-cheek bravado. Known for their hook-laced songwriting and danceable basslines, Kennedy continues to write, produce, and mix all their own music, carving out a singular voice in the UK’s alt-pop scene.
