Multi-award-winning singer-songwriter Romanie returns with her new single Anything or Anyone, a warm, quietly powerful release lifted from her forthcoming album It’s Not That Funny, due February 20.

Built on gently plucked guitars, Anything or Anyone reflects on loneliness and the pull to self-isolate, ultimately offering a reminder of connection and shared experience.

“I think the song, even though it stemmed from a sad time, is a reminder and dedication to anyone who’s ever felt lonely (all of us) and a reminder that we never are alone. Community is everything.”

Belgian-born, Australian-based Romanie Assez has been steadily refining her voice since launching in 2021, drawing influence from artists like Big Thief, Mitski, Wet Leg and The Cranberries. Straddling alt, pop and indie, her sound has grown darker and more textured over time, pairing grit with clear-eyed vulnerability. Honest, nuanced and quietly resilient, Anything or Anyone captures Romanie at her most assured yet.
