SUNKISSED CHILD TAKES A WRY LOOK AT LOVE ON ‘OK OK’

Alt-R&B artist Sunkissed Child releases her new single, ‘OK OK’, on 30 July, ahead of a headline show at London’s Dalston Curve Garden on 15 September.

Sunkissed Child (aka Yasmina) fuses Alt-R&B, soul and jazz in songs that explore identity, intimacy and self-inquiry. Her sound draws from London’s underground jazz scene and her Middle Eastern heritage.

With Lily Allen-style storytelling and Olivia Dean-like warmth, ‘OK OK’ pairs groovy drums, punchy guitar and analogue textures with a cynical take on modern relationships. The song follows the slow shift from agreeing to everything for love to finally confronting an unhealthy dynamic.

“My last breakup was so traumatic and difficult for me, it felt almost absurd to write really sad and introspective songs about it. When you step back from situations, you often realise how absurd these were, and this track is really the epitome of that: cynically laughing looking back at your past mistakes.”

Known for emotionally charged, narrative-led performances, Sunkissed Child has sold out headline shows in London and Leeds and appeared at We Out Here and Turkey’s Sound of Europe.
