MOKINA UNVEILS DREAMY NEW EP ‘MIRAGE’
Montreal-born singer, songwriter, and producer Mokina returns today with the release of her lush new EP, mirage—a five-track journey through dreamy indie-folk textures and raw emotional honesty.
Alongside previously released singles ‘true’ and ‘sinner’, the record introduces three new songs: the ethereal title track ‘mirage’, the bittersweet ‘heartbreaker’, and the melancholic ‘dont wait por mim’.
The EP explores the illusions and complexities of romantic relationships, refracted through the lens of Mokina’s lived experience of womanhood. “As women, we’re taught to carry shame for things that are simply human—desire, detachment, choosing ourselves,” Mokina shares. “These songs are about normalizing those experiences and letting go of that inner guilt.”
Produced with Jeremy Lachance on Portugal’s scenic coast near her home in Ferrel, mirage weaves English, French, and Portuguese throughout, reflecting Mokina’s global perspective. Mixing by fellow Montrealer Niall Mutter adds depth to the EP’s raw, intimate sound.
Critically praised for her poetic lyricism and haunting melodies, Mokina has carved out a distinct sonic identity influenced by artists like Faye Webster, boygenius, Kate Bollinger, TOLEDO, and Alice Phoebe Lou. Visuals for mirage, shot by Polish filmmaker Magda Benda, mirror the music’s themes of love, lust, and loss with cinematic flair.
With mirage, Mokina opens a new chapter—one that cements her as a singular voice in modern indie music.
